About me
I'm Lucas Leys and I'm 21 years old. I'm currently studying Cloud & Cyber Security at Thomas More University. I like cycling, camping, and troubleshooting PCs. The humble town where I live is called Vosselaar, a town located in the region of Antwerp. I don't mind a challenge because I like solving a puzzle which improves my problem-solving abilities. I'm a humble and timid person by nature, and you'll find me staying in the background because I like to observe and analyse a situation at hand before I take action. This also makes critical thinking an important skill for me. This doesn't prohibit my ability to work in a team because my communication skills have definitely improved over the years.

As I already mentioned, I study Cloud & Cyber Security (last year), so it should be no surprise that I want to become an ethical hacker. My interests grew during high school because my former teacher showed us a documentary about Anonymous. It immediately caught my interests, so I decided that I would follow them.
Skills
Internship
Analysing Phishing Panels
Over a period of 13 weeks, from February 26th to May 24th, I did an internship within an organisation where I was tasked with analysing phishing panels. I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge about phishing. My internship assignment consisted of two parts for two departments. Each department gave me different objectives and tasks while still forming one whole. For each objective, a certain methodology was applied that was based on standards within the field. These methodologies allowed the research to be substantiated and conducted in a structured and efficient manner. Having the chance to dive into source code analysis and learn how to conduct this type of penetration testing investigation really improved my knowledge of web and application security. I also delved into digital forensic methods to analyse data in order to find clues. To assist in this process, some tools were also researched and applied, including one I developed myself.
I divided the internship into several phases, consisting mainly of preparation and execution phases. The previously mentioned methodologies formed the basis for my method of operation in each phase. The findings of my research can prove useful in the future. My method of operation could also serve as a base for the approach for these types of studies.
In short, I had an amazing experience, learned a great set of skills, and gained extended knowledge about digital forensics and web security during my internship. It sparked my interest in cyber security even more, especially in digital forensics and web security. I'm very grateful that I had this opportunity.

Achievements
A semester-long project that transformed math and football by creating a robot car that could change the way people look at these subjects. This project not only showcased my skills in 3D modelling, coding, and teamwork but also taught me invaluable lessons in leadership and communication.
A project that provides an insight into the professional working environment by working on a project requested by a customer and actively engaging with my teammates. My communication skills improved exponentially. My knowledge about AWS and Gitlab CI/CD was also utilised and improved.
A groundbreaking project aimed at setting up a hosting platform for a PHP application, showcasing our team's expertise in designing and implementing a robust infrastructure. This project not only sharpened my skills in time management and problem-solving but also introduced me to a wide range of technologies.
A pivotal project aimed at raising awareness about password security, focusing on the critical importance of using secure passwords for online accounts. This project not only showcased my ability to step outside my comfort zone but also highlighted the value of resourcefulness, organisation, and diversity in problem-solving.
An informative project that hardened my understanding of cyber defence and incident response. This project proved to be a challenge and allowed me to showcase my skills in cyber security technologies such as XDR, SIEM, and SOAR. The need for security systems like this proof to be fundamental in today's digital world.
